On Friday afternoons our class combines with other kids from grades K-4 and we divide into smaller groups. Each group goes to a different classroom to work on different STEM activities. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. This Friday we explored and built with the different supplies and tools that are available. It was amazing seeing what everyone could create using their imagination. Starting next week, each group will be given a specific task to complete. Each task will involve problem solving and creativity. Stay tuned for more pictures and fun!

Third Day of 3rd Grade
How many times in life do you get to celebrate the 3rd day of Third grade? Only once so we celebrated BIG! We started off the day sharing our bag of items with each other. Of course we shared them 3 people at a time.
In math, the number of the day was 3 so we came up with all the things we knew about the number 3. We also got creative with number sentences that equal 3. Then we played some games that all featured the number 3.
And of course we ended the day with a Three Musketeers treat! 😊

Our First Day! Hooray!
We had an amazing first day together! Everyone was all smiles coming into class this morning!
After chapel, we shared our names and 1 thing we did over the summer. Then, we got to know each other even better by playing a game. We broke into small groups and played 2 Truths and a Fib. Everyone said 3 statements about themselves. 2 of those statements were true and 1 was false and the groups had to try and guess which one was the fib. We had so much fun learning more about each other!
Later in the morning we read a poem called "What Will I Pack In My Box Marked Summer" and everyone was asked to write at least 5 sentences telling what fun memories they have from their summer. Everyone worked so hard. It was totally silent in our room!
It was a fun, busy day but everyone had fun! We ended the day with even more smiles!

We were ready for recess! GaGa Ball is always a hit!
After lunch everyone was ready to listen to another story! 😊
Another fun challenge we did today was Save Fred! Everyone had to work in small groups to rescue Fred (gummy worm) from the top of his boat (plastic cup) and put his life preserver on him (gummy life saver) All this had to be done without touching Fred with our hands, only with paperclips! A lot of planning and team work was needed but several groups succeeded in saving poor Fred.
